Lane Swim in Toronto

Lane swim is one of the best deals in the city. The City of Toronto runs lane swim sessions at every indoor pool, usually multiple times a day, for a few dollars. Most pools have at least three lanes designated by speed (slow, medium, fast) so you don't get stuck behind someone two minutes per length slower than you. Etobicoke Olympium and Regent Park have the warmest water; Birchmount and Centennial are colder and faster.

Common questions

Do I need a swim cap?

Not required at City pools, but appreciated if you have long hair.

How are lanes divided?

Slow, medium, and fast — pick honestly. Etiquette is to circle-swim (down one side, back the other) when there are 3+ swimmers in a lane.

Are there family swim or aquafit sessions instead?

Yes — see our aquafit page or browse the app for family swim, parent-and-tot, and adult-only swims.
