Drop-in Soccer in Toronto
Drop-in soccer runs at far fewer centres than basketball or badminton, so it is worth checking the schedule before you travel across the city for it. Nearly all of it is indoor gym soccer, played small-sided on a gymnasium floor rather than on a full pitch, so non-marking indoor court shoes are the norm and cleats are not allowed on a gym floor. Outdoor fields turn up in the drop-in schedule only during the summer season. Read the session name and the age range before you go, because not every slot is open pickup: the City also schedules Soccer with Family, which is a parent-and-child session, and Soccer (Women) at some centres. A small number of sessions run under Reserve a Spot rather than straight drop-in, which means booking ahead instead of walking in.

Common questions
Is drop-in soccer indoor or outdoor?
Indoor in almost every case: a City recreation centre gymnasium, played small-sided rather than on a full pitch. Outdoor fields appear in the drop-in schedule only over the summer season, so check the live times for the location you have in mind.
What shoes should I wear?
Non-marking indoor court shoes for a gym session, where cleats are not permitted.
Can I just turn up?
Usually, but not always. Most sessions are straight drop-in where sides are made up on the spot. A few run under the City's Reserve a Spot system and have to be booked ahead, and some are restricted by age or to women. Check the session name and age range on the schedule, not just the centre.
