Wading Pools & Splash Pads in Toronto
Water Play is how the City lists its outdoor wading pools and splash pads, and it is the best free thing Toronto does all summer. Wading pools are shallow, staffed, and typically run from late June through Labour Day, usually 10 a.m. to around 5 or 6 p.m. daily, weather permitting. Splash pads run longer into the season and need no staff, so they open earlier in June. Nearly every neighbourhood park with a wading pool appears here — bring a towel, sunscreen, and water shoes.
Cost
Free. Wading pools and splash pads are no cost, no registration, and open to everyone.

Common questions
Are wading pools free?
Yes. All City of Toronto wading pools and splash pads are completely free and require no registration.
When do wading pools open for the season?
Most wading pools open in late June and run to Labour Day. Splash pads generally open earlier in June and stay on later into September. Both close in bad weather or when air temperatures drop.
Do wading pools have lifeguards?
Wading pools are staffed by City attendants during posted hours, but they are not lifeguarded like a swimming pool. Splash pads have no staff at all. Parents must supervise children at both.
