Strength & Conditioning in Toronto
This is the City's group-fitness bucket for anything that makes you sweat and lift: Strength and Conditioning, Functional Fit, HIIT: Boot Camp, Cardio: High/Low, and Step. Classes run 45 to 60 minutes in a studio with dumbbells, bands, steps, and mats provided. Intensity is genuinely scalable — instructors demo a hard and an easy version of almost every movement, and nobody will look at you for taking the easier one. These fill up faster than most City classes, so arriving 10 minutes early is worth it at busy centres.
Cost
$4–$9 drop-in. Free at the City's free centres. Unlimited with a FitnessTO membership.

Common questions
Is equipment provided?
Yes. Dumbbells, resistance bands, steps, and mats are supplied. Bring your own water bottle and a towel.
Am I fit enough for HIIT or boot camp?
Almost certainly. Instructors demonstrate low-impact regressions for every movement, and drop-in classes always have a mix of first-timers and regulars.
How early should I arrive?
Ten minutes at busy centres. Popular evening classes cap at studio capacity and are first-come, first-served.
