About GetMovingTO

GetMovingTO is an independent web project built and maintained by a small team of Toronto residents who use city recreation programs themselves. We are not a government service. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by the City of Toronto.

Why we built this

The City of Toronto runs over 150 municipal recreation centres with thousands of weekly drop-in classes. The City's own program search is comprehensive but hard to use on a phone, and almost impossible if you just want to know "what's starting near me in the next hour." GetMovingTO closes that gap.

Where the data comes from

All recreation centre and class schedule data is pulled daily from the City of Toronto Open Data Portal under the Open Government Licence – Toronto. Editorial content — neighbourhood guides, FAQs, blog posts, and tips — is written by the GetMovingTO team based on first-hand visits and community feedback.
